| Course description | A lecture and project-based course enabling students to develop skills in 2D and 3D animation, character animation, techniques of montaging live action with CGI, storyboarding and narrative, and motion capture. The approach is experimental, looking beyond high-profile animation as seen in contemporary entertainment media, and provides an opportunity to explore innovative techniques and new contexts of application, including in interaction design. |

| Academic description | 
The general aims and outcomes of the course are similar to those described in the Handbook for the MSc in Design and Digital Media, and will be expanded during the detailed course design phase. 
 
This course is proposed as the first phase in the development of a new MSc in Digital Animation, to be started in the year 2011-12, subject to funding being available. See the attached application to CHSS for funds. If funds are not forthcoming from that source then we will seek other sources to advance the programme.
