| Course description | The status of the sign is contested in postmodernity. This course considers the phenomenology of sign and symbol and sacrament in contemporary continental philosophy, theology, and religion. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes 
At the conclusion of the course, students should have achieved the following: 
- an understanding of the foundations, principles, and development of phenomenology; 
- an understanding of how signs function; 
- an awareness of the phenomenological and theological issues involved; 
- a grasp of key issues and players involved. | 
 
 
Assessment Information 
An ongoing $ùdossier de travail&©/portfolio on a fortnightly basis, each contribution demonstrating critical engagement with a particular text and issue by a particular key player, is to be compiled. The $ùdossier de travail&©/portfolio will involve engagement with at least two key players. Intended learning outcomes 3 and 4. (4 x 1000 = 4000 words) (50%).
