Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes 
By the end of the course students should be able to: 
- demonstrate in coursework and examinations a wider and deeper knowledge of the structure and idiom of the Latin language; 
- demonstrate in essays and examinations an enhanced ability to locate works of Latin literature in their literary, social, historical, and intellectual contexts; 
- demonstrate in essays and examinations an ability to analyse and pass informed critical judgement on specific works and passages 
- demonstrate in coursework and examination an ability to locate and use relevant forms of primary and secondary evidence in building up a coherent and relevant argument. |

| This course is divided into two halves of five weeks each, with a guided reading week between them to allow for consolidation and for preparation for the second half of the course. |
