Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes 
This course will address the works of several writers from the classical period who have been influential in Persian literature and culture. We will study the style and substance of their literary contributions to political, social and religious trends and events in contemporary society. In the process we will also discuss other approaches to this material utilised to date. Thereby the course aims also to develop students&© analytical skills and to improve their interactive capacities and their ability to do secondary-source research and to present oral and written work clearly and effectively.
