| Course description | Indicative course content
This course is designed to encompass studies undertaken either before or after eca students participate in an exchange. Students work on a series of projects and are encouraged to: collect and analyse research that is creatively informed and critically aware; develop creative concepts through integrated iterative processes incorporating making, evaluating, presenting and reflection; demonstrate an awareness of the professional context for their discipline, and their personal direction within it.
Aims of course
1 to enable students to develop, and critically appraise, a body of clearly defined research material that communicates a progression of ideas and an awareness of contemporary creative practice and user/audience needs
2 to develop advanced creative methods, techniques, approaches, materials and processes, exploring how practitioners personally conceptualise briefs
3 to enable students to begin to position their personal practice within the discipline, exploring a range of appropriate design methodologies and strategies for the professional presentation, exhibition and documentation of work

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. demonstrate analysis, questioning and selection skills in the formulation and exploration of personal research themes
2. demonstrate the ability to explore, develop and resolve creative concepts in response to briefs, through structured and iterative methodologies and evaluations, using appropriate materials and processes.
3. demonstrate the ability to evaluate the professional context for the discipline, reflect on their position within it and communicate proposals, concepts and responses using a variety of appropriate methods |
