| Course description | This is an advanced language course consisting of four components:  
&· intensive reading with an emphasis on Chinese commerce and current affairs 
&· newspaper reading with a focus on current affairs 
&· composition with the aim of improving students&© writing skills in general 
&· oral class where vocabulary and expressions that have been learned in the intensive reading class are practised and consolidated. This class also aims to improve students&© speaking skills through debating, discussing and making presentations in Chinese.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes 
| Students are expected to reach the advanced level at the end of the course. They will be in command of a wide range of vocabulary and grammatical structures encompassing most general situations and a range of discipline-specific topics. Students should be equipped with a sufficient level of written and spoken Chinese to express viewpoints and carry out research using some original Chinese documents. |
