| 1 Unit of Assessment is allocated to every 20-credits of courses.
Language Paper 1 counts as a 40-credit course. |
| * No previous knowledge of Portuguese is necessary: a pass
in a modern foreign language or a classical language at SCE Higher grade
or equivalent evidence of linguistic proficiency is normally required. |
| † Students are required to attend approved courses in
European Studies at an institution of higher learning in Spain and Portugal
and to begin to prepare a dissertation upon an approved topic in European
Studies (between 6,000 and 8,000 words). |
| ** a pass in at least one modern foreign or classical language
on the Higher Grade (SCE) or evidence of linguistic proficiency. |
| ‡ Spanish Higher Grade (SCE) or equivalent. Entrants
with SCE qualifications should hold at least a "B" pass. |
| ‡ Entry into Honours normally requires (i) passes in
all six subjects taken in the first two years, and (ii) a mark of 55% or
