        CNS Diseases (U01045)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : MED-4-PHcnsdis This course aims to provide an introduction to human CNS diseases with a particular emphasis on Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. The students will gain an understanding of the causes of CNS disease, basic mechanisms underlying disease processes, and how they are manifested. They will also appreciate the development of model systems to mimic aspects of disease, how these have contributed to the understanding of disease processes and aided the development of treatment strategies. There will be emphasis on pharmacological approaches contrasted with novel treatment strategies such as the use of stem cells in the treatment of  CNS disease. Entry Requirements?
