Summary	The objective of this course is to promote a scientific, evidence based approach to veterinary oncology, and to help students develop both practical and theoretical skills in the field. The student is expected to build on the foundation skills developed when undertaking the A and B modules/courses, and to demonstrate progression towards advanced practitioner skills. The candidate will be able to evaluate their own standards of practice and develop strategies for continuous improvement in the future.
Course description	This assessment-only course forms part of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (Veterinary Oncology). Students wishing to achieve this certificate will need to complete the following modules: A-FAVP.1 Foundations in Advanced Veterinary Practice, B-PAP.2, C-Onc.1 and C-Onc.2, plus one other B or C module. Upon completion of all the necessary modules, a further synoptic assessment will be required. This course focuses on cancer of body systems, advanced and developing therapeutics, palliative care and the clinical science of cancer. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate a broad understanding and application of knowledge relating to: Diagnosis and management of major cancers affecting the body systems Advanced cancer treatments Radiotherapy in the context of general practice (which patients would benefit and what the likely side effects may be) Holistic and palliative care *Statistical sciences in relation to cancer

Additional Information (Assessment)	This course will be assessed by the following methods. Two 1500-word case reports 10-15 short-answer questions (SAQs) A case log of 25 cases
Feedback	All assignments will be marked and feedback provided within a period of 15 working days following submission (excluding holidays periods whereby the University of closed, e.g. over the Christmas period). Students will have the option to submit drafts of one case study for formative written feedback to aid in preparation for submission. Full written feedback will be provided with results, and students are encouraged to contact the programme team to discuss if they have any queries.
