Course description |
The health of ecosystems is dependent on their structure and function, and plays a critical role in the health of the human, animal and plant populations they support. This course provides an introduction into ecosystem health within the wider context of One Health. Approaches to defining and assessing ecosystem health are considered and ecosystem function and the role of biodiversity are discussed. The concept of ecosystem services and natural capital are outlined. The science behind resilience is introduced including how it relates to sustainability of social-ecological systems.
