SummaryThis course will provide students with knowledge of how anaesthesia may be managed in typical canine and feline cases. Species specific situations will be discussed.
Course description Knowledge and understanding of species specific risks and problems associated with anaesthesia in cats and dogs;
Knowledge and understanding of current anaesthetic and analgesic practice in cats and dogs

Assessment 1 (60%): Case Report OR essay (up to 2000 words)

Assessment 2 (40%): Critical Paper Review OR online assessment (up to 1000 words)
Feedback Formative feedback on case study assessment
Informal feedback to students on case discussions via discussion boards.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. discuss the species-specific elements of peri-anaesthetic management and suggest appropriate anaesthetic and analgesia plans for Dogs & Cats.
  2. compare different techniques in anaesthesia and analgesia for the above species.
  3. critically review the published evidence concerning anaesthesia in these species
