SummaryThis short course explains how to think critically about any knowledge claim, from the obvious (the things that we take for granted) to the extraordinary (the things that we dismiss without thinking).
Course description This short course is an introduction to critical thinking. It is designed to provoke curiosity about the world in which we live, in terms of what we see, what we believe, and what we want. It questions what we take for granted, and entertains what we think is impossible. In doing so, it explains what critical thinking is, and how to think critically about any knowledge claim, from the most obvious (such as 'you are here') to the most extraordinary (such as 'you can predict the future').

It is designed as a non-credit bearing course, so that it can focus on provoking curiosity, rather than on providing information. However, students will learn how to think critically about any knowledge claim, and will be given the opportunity to add a course on "critical thinking" to their CV, which is widely recognized by employers as a desirable attribute.

In order to pass the course, students will be required to engage with online materials (which will include puzzles and tasks), and to complete an online critical thinking test (pass-fail).
