| Summary | This course prepares students for their dissertation research as well as introducing them to aspects of professional standards and practice in bioarchaeology both inside and outside Universities, with primary reference to the UK. Varied assessments provides the opportunity to acquire valuable research and communication skills. |
| Course description |
The course focuses on research and communication skills as well as general knowledge of the academic and professional context of bioarchaeology. Seminars by speakers from the School and from the heritage sector explore topics such as dissertation writing, ethics, employment opportunities and research design. The course encourages you to learn while thinking more actively and independently about your own research and career.
There is a group poster presentation session at the end of the semester.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- devise a programme of research and to locate relevant sources of information.
- understand and apply research skills to bioarchaeological investigation and other research topics;
- develop and sustain original scholarly arguments in oral and written form by independently formulating appropriate questions and utilising relevant evidence
