Course description |
This course is the second half of a one-year intensive introduction to ancient Greek language for those with no previous knowledge of Greek. The course emphasizes consolidation and expansion of language skills primarily through reading ancient texts, prose and poetry.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- recognise and translate the basic morphology of Classical Greek;
- recognise and translate the basic syntactical constructions of Classical Greek;
- translate basic sentences from Greek into English and from English into Greek;
- translate Greek texts from one area of Greek Literature, for example, oratory;
- understand the basic literary critical, socio-historical, political, or ethical issues raised in studying these texts.
