Course description Pre-dissertation work commences at the start of semester 2, and encompasses active preparation work for the MSc dissertation itself, i.e. preliminary study of the topic and ensuring that key components and equipment are ready for the main work on the dissertation starting after the Semester 2 exams. The general intention of the Pre-dissertation is therefore to define the dissertation related research in more detail and to foresee and avoid potential problems, delays and difficulties that may arise, e.g. in untested experimental procedures or ambitious computer modelling.
