Summary | **Online Learning Course**
In Drug Discovery that has a rationale basis a three-dimensional structure of the target is a necessity. Students need an appreciation of X-ray crystallography to be able to evaluate critically their credence in crystallographic models used in this work.
This course will lead students through the process, illustrating the criteria for reliable models and the sometimes subtle hints that others are wrong in detail, while a few are grossly wrong through naivety or fraud.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Read a x-ray crystallography paper with an appreciation of the methods and the reliability of the model;
- Take an unknown model and test its reliability using software that tests its probity;
- Acquire advanced knowledge of correct protein stereochemistry as a measure of reliability;
- Appreciate the concept of phase bias in electron density maps;
- Demonstrate a knowledge of what can be expected of a crystallographic model determined at any particular resolution.
