What do clinical psychologists do and what can their research tell us about the nature of the psychological concerns that people face? This course looks to answer these questions and examines the psychotherapeutic approaches clinical psychologists employ in helping people with differing psychological and emotional problems.

Explain what clinical psychology is and what clinical psychologists do;
Understand why emotional and psychological problems emerge and how they can be addressed;
Describe the tenets of the major schools of psychotherapy and the distinctions between them;
Understand the assessment, research and evaluation methods used in clinical psychology;
To some degree at least, know how to enhance their own psychological well-being
