SummaryThe aim of this course is to introduce the diagnosis, management and control of nosocomial infections. Content will address the increasing occurrence of antimicrobial resistance including the epidemiology of MRSA.

  1. Understand the common pathogens associated with nosocomial infections.
  2. Understand the basis of hospital infections.
  3. Understand the role of the health professional in the surveillance and management of these infections.
  4. Understand the role of hygiene and treatment regimes in controlling antimicrobial resistance.
