| Course description |
This course constitutes the final 60 credits of the Masters in Leadership and Learning degree. This course provides the opportunity for independent study that is supported through formal academic supervision.
The course comprises two main parts -
Part 1 involves structured support and supervision for the development of a detailed proposal for an extended work-based study;
Part 2a involves the implementation of an extended work-based study; critical evaluation of process and outcomes, identification of next steps for self, practice and future research;
Part 2b involves composition of a research report to communicate the knowledge created as a product of the work-based study.

To pass the course students are also required to submit a research proposal.
Formative assessment and feedforward will be offered by course tutor/ supervisor, structured in three parts:
feedforward on research proposal;Students will only be able to progress with their research after gaining ethics approval and feedback from the supervisor on the proposal. Formative feedback on choice and justification for format chosen for summative Research Report; feedback and/or feedforward on drafts of 2 chapters (or equivalent) of Research Report.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
