| Summary | The course intends to provide students with an introduction to the application of economic theory to the subject area. There is a strong focus on policy issues and policy remedies to identified problems, and the course will be structured around an organising theme of sustainability.
Students should have developed a good awareness of the major literature in the area and be able to apply the relevant tools of economic analysis (which in some cases they will have met in other parts of the course) to the identified problems. This extends to an appreciation of the policy implications of issues developed during the course and to the quality of available policy instruments.
