SummaryThis non-credit bearing online course aims to develop an understanding of basic probability, statistics and spreadsheet modelling techniques to support management decision-making.
Course description The course is designed to help underpin the quantitative approaches used in the core MBA courses but also to provide a basis for the later use of quantitative techniques in the elective options, consultancy and capstone projects. The course incorporates an initial diagnostic test to assess participants' entry skills and a summative test to assess levels of achievement.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Recognise and critically discuss quantitative techniques suitable for data analysis in particular management situations.
  2. Critically discuss the underlying assumptions, uses and limitations of these techniques.
  3. Apply statistical and basic spreadsheet modelling techniques and to correctly interpret the results
  4. Use Microsoft® Excel® for basic modelling and data analysis.
