Course description Course description: This basic human anatomy component is a core constituent of the anatomical sciences programme which runs throughout semester 1. This course examines the human body and uses a systems based approach.

Students will examine the systems of the body using a variety of resources within the virtual learning environment.

Additional Information (Assessment) 1 An online, timed assessment using a variety of question types: eg
Multiple choice, extending matching question techniques with text and visual components and short essay answer questions.
2 A short piece of academic writing. This is designed to test the candidate's critical analysis of existing literature; and perspective on an issue relating to the topic; and the ability to communicate scientific information in an appropriate and professional manner to colleagues.
Feedback In addition to formal summative assessment required to pass this course, opportunities for formative assessment are provided within the virtual learning environment.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Understand at a basic level the structure and function of the area being been studied.
  2. Clearly demonstrate a knowledge of the anatomy of the system being studied.
  3. Make effective use of learning resources.
