Course description |
The dissertation project involves the completion of a literature review and an analytical paper in which students are expected to carry out a formal academic study of their chosen topic. Students can choose to carry out an empirical study or systematic literature review. Both of these will include research design, data collection, data analysis and interpretation, and will be presented in the format of a paper to be published in the appropriate field. The dissertation course is largely self-directed, with support provided by an allocated supervisor.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate extensive, detailed and critical knowledge and understanding within the field of clinical animal behaviour, including an ability to analyse and/or interpret data
- Plan and execute a research project (primary or secondary) including consideration of the ethical issues relating to the use of humans and non-human subjects in research
- Critically review, consolidate and extend knowledge in the field of Clinical Animal Behaviour, providing recommendations based on research findings
- Communicate effectively with an academic audience (written and oral)
