Course description |
The course is designed to introduce creative methods of fashion sketch and fashion illustration.
Students undertaking this course will develop key creative skills in Drawing for Fashion.
The ability to understand and interpret silhouette, construction, volume and texture through drawing is a key element in enabling students to communicate and present their work to the fashion industry and to a wider audience.
This project allows students to explore and develop their drawing skills through the following methods, drawing from a life model, drawing for fashion sketch, drawing for fashion illustration, exploration of materials and fashion accessories.
Experimenting with various drawing media and drawing techniques students will explore body proportions, poses and the interaction between clothing and the body.
Students will also undertake formative research into fashion illustration through historical and contemporary fashion analysis.

Other requirements | This course is open to ALL STUDENTS and enrolments are managed on a first come first served basis until the course is full. The course will be open to enrolments from Wednesday 11th September at 11.00 am. Please sign up for the course through your own School (they will advise if this is done via your PT, SSO or Teaching Office). We do not currently keep a waiting list. |
Additional Costs | Basic costs of paper/sketchbooks/drawing materials estimated at £30-£40 per course students are asked to consider using recycled papers and materials to limit overall costs. |

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Respond to the project brief through in-depth research exploring the work and methods of a breadth of fashion illustrators and designers.
- Experiment with fashion sketch and illustration using a variety of medium, exploring individual and highly creative drawing methods.
- Demonstrate an understanding of professional selection and creative presentation methods in fashion drawing.
