On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. conduct an original piece of quantitative or qualitative research; make a clear link between the existing literature and the research question.
  2. identify and describe ethical issues which may arise from the work in relation to the existing literature.
  3. plan a major piece of research and to, within the time limits, gather the data needed to address the question.
  4. conduct the appropriate quantitative or qualitative analyses of the data, and to succinctly report the results.
  5. discuss results obtained in relation to the existing literature.
