Summary	Students will employ a high level of critical analysis in a chosen area of personal research and present a body of work that interrogates and informs studio practice.
Course description	This course asks you to develop your work initiating appropriate working methods and processes to support your studio practice. It asks you to reflect on and record the particular path that you take through textual and image-based research, the methods, techniques and materials you use and why they are appropriate to your ideas. Aims: 1.To define your personal area of research and show an ability to reflect on the methodologies you use. 2.To produce a body of research that supports your studio practice

Additional Information (Assessment)	There are two pieces of summative assessment that should be submitted in a single PDF document uploaded to Learn: an illustrated research report of 1000 words detailing 4 different aspects of your research, (this should spotlight different works or bodies of work, different methodologies, techniques or narratives), and a research statement of 300 words that outlines what informs your practice as a whole. Assessment is formative at end of Semester 1 and summative at end of Semester 2. Each learning outcome is equally weighted.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to: Critically analyse range of research methods through the production of a clearly defined research proposal. Present a body of work which demonstrates critical thinking and synthesis of the major aims of your personal approach to Fine Art practice. Present your practice through a highly focussed range of organisational and presentational skills.
