Academic Description:
This course aims to consolidate the students' understanding of ancient Greek language gained in Introducing New Testament Greek by reading biblical Greek texts of graded difficulty and differing character, and builds analytical skills of textual criticism and exegesis.
Syllabus/Outline Content:
Students' understanding of the language gained in Introducing New Testament Greek is consolidated by an initial review of the grammar covered in that course. Thereafter, student concentrate on reading a series of Greek texts of gradually increasing difficulty. The set texts vary each year, but a possible curriculum might be the following: John 13, Mark 1416, Matthew 12, Philipppians.
Student Learning Experience Information:
The course meets once a week over the whole academic year. In semester 1, students will revise grammar, practise exercises, as well as read easier New Testament texts, and apply prior learning of biblical studies to the exegesis of these texts. In semester 2, students extend what they have learned for exegesis by developing text critical facility ,and reading and interpreting more demanding New Testament texts.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate a good reading ability in New Testament Greek.
- Show an acquaintance with the major tools of Greek exegesis: grammars, lexica, and concordances.
- Write an exegetical essay on a biblical Greek text, identifying and discussing important linguistic and theological points.
- Interpret and make decisions based on the textual apparatus of a modern edition of the Greek New Testament.
