Summary | Turkish 2b is designed to lead on from Turkish 2a and provides further development of the students' linguistic skills in modern Turkish, both written and oral. |
Course description |
Turkish 2b aims to teach the structure of the Turkish language through Istanbul B1 course book (last 3 units). These units (4-6) cover other/more adverbial clauses (although, rather than, despite, even if, etc.), conditionals in the present and past forms, and the reciprocal verbs. A selection of short literary texts in modern Turkish will also be studied.
The course will consist of 4 Seminar/Tutorial hours of instruction per week. Every week, 3 hours will be devoted to grammar and reading skills while 1 will be devoted to oral practice.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- demonstrate intermediate knowledge of Turkish grammar;
- talk and write confidently about a range of everyday subjects;
- read and understand some literary texts in modern Turkish;
- use the core vocabulary of Turkish news bulletins;
- translate intermediate level texts from Turkish into English and vice versa.
