The completion of IPT Level D, and associated coursework, will contribute to a portfolio that, alongside independent advanced casework, could be submitted for IPT-UK accreditation at supervisor status. |
| Course description |
IPT Level D is designed for IPT-UK accredited practitioners who wish to progress to IPT-UK accredited supervisor status. It is designed to support practitioners in receiving an IPT-UK accredited taught supervision course to support them in their supervision of others. Students will attend two days of supervisor training teaching which will include the opportunity to co-rate audio-tapes of clinical practice. IPT level D is designed for individuals who wish to undertake advanced casework (cases 5 and 6) and supervision of supervision independently from the University. It would contribute to part of a portfolio that could be submitted for IPT-UK accreditation at supervisor status. IPT is an evidence-based, safe and effective therapy for depression and related disorders. This course will focus on the development of supervision skills specific to Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) through contact days with the university. The course forms part of the MSc in Psychological Therapies and students have a range of options for continuing their studies on completion of this course. Due to the practice based elements of this course, the course is delivered over one year.

| Additional Costs | Costs of supervision of supervision will need to be met by students. Furthermore students need to have access to a trainee IPT therapist to supervise on at least one case to support coursework. Independent supervision of cases 5 and 6 will be required to meet IPT-UK supervision competencies. |

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:

- Students will demonstrate skills in communicating effectively and constructively on others application of IPT knowledge and skills within clinical practice, including managing and supporting change in non-adherent practice.
- Students will develop knowledge and skills required to proficiently supervise IPT practice.
