Summary | The course examines a selection of core sixteenth-to-nineteenth century texts that have assumed classic status in discussions of political theory. The selection of texts may vary from year to year, but central themes (such as social contract theory) and often-referred to writers (for example Hobbes and Locke and Rousseua) are the focus of attention. The course covers historical and textual questions, but concentrates on conceptual issues that are of continuing interest and concern. |
