Summary | This course introduces students to the most up to date theory which is being applied in the seismic industry. The course is designed for students who have a background in geophysics equivalent to Introduction to Geophysics and Seismic Methods courses. Students will develop an understanding of the current mathematical theories being used to process and image data in the seismic industry. |

Learning Outcomes
1. Representation Theorems: derivation of the Rayleigh Integral, Kirchhoff-Helmholtz Integral representation and Lippmann-Schwinger equation.
2. Multiple Elimination Techniques: De-ghosting, predictive deconvolution for the elimination of short- and long-period multiples, Surface Related Multiple Elimination (SRME) in 2D and 3D, removal of sea-surface multiples by Kirchhoff inverse scattering theory.
3. Seismic Migration: Principles of seismic imaging, wavefield extrapolation and imaging conditions, Pre-stack Kirchhoff depth migration, Time-migration and Post-strack time migration, Kirchhoff Gauss Beam migration, Reverse Time Migration.
4. Introduction to Full Waveform Inversion.
