SummaryContinuing the creative studies undertaken by students in Composition 1, this course involves both individual and group work, directed by staff within a project and tutorials.
Course description Through lectures, set works, demonstrations, tutorials, individual and group work, this course helps students to develop as composers.
Students are able to create music across all genres, whilst encouraged to be innovative and original within the context of the genre in which they work.
The course encourages students to find new ways to create, structure and orchestrate their music, and to express themselves musically and engagingly.
Entry Requirements (not applicable to Visiting Students)
Pre-requisites It is RECOMMENDED that students have passed Composition 1 (MUSI08067)

Pre-requisitesVisiting students should have at least one semester in Music Theory and one semester in Composition. We will only consider University/College level courses.

Feedback Students receive formative verbal feedback throughout the semester in group tutorials. Summative written feedback is provided on coursework submissions.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. conceive musical ideas, and to manipulate them in an inventive and individual way
  2. develop musical materials into well-formed and coherent musical structures
