Summary | Clinical teaching in General Surgery will be based at the bedside, in the clinic and in the operating theatre and students will become actively involved in the daily activities of their base units and become an important part of the clinical team. Most of the week in the Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine attachment will be spent in the operating theatre with one-to- one teaching. The Intensive Care attachment will give students insight into the case or the critically ill patient. Much of the time will be spent in intensive care and high dependency care wards. Teaching will take place at the bedside and through a series of tutorials and computer based learning scenarios. The Accident and Emergency attachment give ample opportunity to acquire first hand experience in the management of a wide spectrum of acutely ill and injured patients. |
