Learning Outcomes
Students learn to read and write the Arabic script.
Students acquire knowledge of up to 1,000 key vocabulary items and the core concepts of Arabic grammar.
Students will gain the ability to understand, speak, read and write elementary Modern Standard Arabic to an advanced elementary / low intermediate level.

A quota of 120 students, with preference given to: (1) Students admitted to a degree programme including Arabic or Middle Eastern Studies or Islamic Studies (Honours)and Visiting Students, then students will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Arabic 1 Lectures are delivered at 9am on M-T-Th and Fr; lectures are repeated at 2pm on the same days. Students will be allocated to a lecture group either at 9am each day or 2pm each day. Note that most students will be allocated to a 2pm Lecture group. Any queries should be directed to the course secretary A.Budo@ed.ac.uk. |
