Summary | A substantial placement offered to small groups of students in partnership with Edinburgh¿s flagship cultural institutions. |
Course description |
Working collaboratively, you will deliver a project defined in advance by one of our partner institutions. Each placement is designed to enable you to gain direct hands-on experience in the research elements of the institutions¿ work. Project briefs will vary from year to year but may include curating exhibitions, developing public engagement programmes or conducting research into a particular object, collection or archive. Following the initial briefing, relevant training and inductions, you will work with a high degree of autonomy over two semesters to ensure that the research project is delivered successfully on time and to budget.
The Guided Research Placement is only open to students pursuing the MSc by Research in Collections and Curating Practices. Projects will not be allocated on the basis of individual student interest but on existing skills, skills development needs and on the value of the type of experience entailed in the specific project.
