SummaryPlacement 2 consists of a block placement of five weeks in Semester 2 with focus on the Early Stages (P1-P3). As well as taking their first steps in the classroom, students have opportunities to learn about school life in general and the local community. Placement 2 requires students to plan for teaching time across the whole curriculum range, and to take account of individual differences and pupil assessment. It also provides opportunities for students to develop class management strategies and gain the confidence that comes with this. The students work towards taking full responsibility for teaching for one whole day.

Learning Outcomes
The purposes of Placement 2 are to develop understanding and professional competence in relation to:

- the curriculum, principles and practices in early education;
- the role of observation and reflection in planning for effective teaching and successful learning;
- planning, implementing and evaluating their own teaching in the P1 to P3 range;
- planning, teaching, managing and evaluating one whole day;
- the roles of teachers and other associated professionals within and beyond the school;
- self-evaluation to improve teaching and learning.
