Summary | The objective of this course is to give students a practical understanding of contemporary approaches to the design of services. The course splits into two parts: the design of innovative service delivery processes, and the implementation of information systems to deliver services. The course will cover public and private services, and consumer and industrial services. |
Course description |
The course aims to develop students ability to assess client needs, identify opportunities provided by technological change and by benchmarking with other service providers, design efficient innovative services through trans-disciplinary creation , implement novel service packages and evaluate their success. The course also hones each student's ability to critically reflect on current trends in service design.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Measure the needs of service users, the costs of service delivery and identify opportunities for service improvement;
- Analyse service delivery as a network of processes crossing between the service provider and the service user;
- Monitor online services and incorporate the analytic data in service improvement;
- Critically discuss the current trends in service design towards the co-creation of services and service personalisation.
