SCQF Credits40 ECTS Credits20
SummaryA 40 credit studio that builds on the workshop projects in semester 1. The emphasis changes from the specificity of individual material practices towards cross-disciplinary engagement, both in material practice and in the skills that the students bring to the programme .
Course description The students will work in teams, assembled to draw together different skills and backgrounds. The course will comprise 2 separate projects each of five to six weeks, specifically broaden the experience of the students and spread the range of tutors and themes that they address. The teams will change for each project. The output for each part will be a group project and individual reflective analysis. Projects will be directed towards a collective objective, developed in relation to a particular theme, for example, Design and the Circular Economy, addressing directly patterns of material consumption, waste and re-use. Input from industry and practice will come from our links with the Scottish Environmental Technology Network. The themes would reflect the research interests and expertise of the tutors. Each project would be run by a one member of staff with input for at least two colleagues to seminars, reviews and assessments.
