SummaryThis course will examine recent issues in philosophy of mind, such as the internalism/externalism debate about mental content, recent accounts of mental causation, and arguments for a non-reductive view of consciousness due to Jackson and Chalmers.

The course will assume that students are familiar with the basic problems and issues in philosophy of mind.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course students will be familiar with many of the recent issues in philosophy of mind.

The course aims to develop student's philosophical skills, and in particular, the skill of engaging a single target or topic in the kind of sustained depth required for research. The teaching is seminar based, and each week students prepare by reading and commenting on set work.
