Quantitative research - generally involving detailed statistical analysis of large amounts of data - is increasingly important in medical education. However, medical educators frequently lack the background necessary to evaluate research using such data or to apply such techniques in their own work.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Review and evaluate the factors that need to be taken into account before and during quantitative research
- Critically examine the range of methods available and select appropriate tools depending on circumstances
- Communicate key findings to non-specialists
- Evaluate the real world impact of quantitative research
- Develop the ability to run analyses using the statistics package R
