Summary | This course will focus on the pedagogic issues about teaching and learning, illustrated by case studies examples. More specifically, it will consider the:
- The use of aims, goals and learning outcomes, behavioural objectives, competences and capability.
- The roles of the teacher: enabler, facilitator, mentor, didactic, trainer, culture-custodian and the legacy of Socrates
- Models associated with learning.
- Study skills: acquiring and using information
- Strategies for learning and teaching: lectures; problem-based learning; negotiated learning contracts; self-directed learning; clinical and other professional skills.
- The issues associated with e-learning.
