This course introduces the moving image for students and artists interested in developing creative ideas with video. The focus will be on the fundamentals of the moving image and time-based media, together with digital video editing. The course covers developing concepts for moving image work using storyboarding, capturing and importing video, creating a rough-cut edit, fine-tuning the edit, working with effects and transitions, working with sound, and exporting a short video piece for DVD. Students will also have the opportunity to view and discuss a range of contemporary artists¿ video and short films. |

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- By the end of the course, through attending classes and engaging in directed and independent study, students should be able to:
RESEARCH
research, plan and storyboard ideas for a range of short video works which consider a range of contemporary video practice in art and design
- PRACTICE
develop their own creative approaches to taking, editing and presenting video showing an understanding of how to use effects, transitions and sound to create a considered short video piece for DVD;
- PRESENT
Present a final edited digital video sequence which has considered both context and impact.
