Summary | This course is for students in the MSc year of the 1+3 year MSc/PhD Doctoral Training Centre programme in Neuroinformatics. This course can only be chosen by students who have sufficient Neuroinformatics background to justify exemption from studying most of the programme's 10 point specialist courses, such as NC, NIP, CNV and CCN, and is subject to concession by the School. The project can be on the same topic as the larger Neuroinformatics Dissertation, but does not have the restriction to have an experimental component. |
Course description |
Students are expected to find their own projects in consultation with supervisors and staff. The project is supervised by either Informatics staff or an associated experimental lab; in the latter case one of the DTC staff members assists with the organisation. The results of the research are written up in a report. Students are expected to provide a short progress report at the end of the first month of work on the project.

Learning Outcomes
1 - Demonstrate the capacity to undertake a research project in the Neuroinformatics field.
2 - Demonstrate the capacity to review the literature in an area of Neuroinformatics and demonstrate this by writing an accurate and coherent review of the area.
3 - Demonstrate the capacity to report the design, implementation, execution and analysis of the research in a short dissertation of at most 15,000 words.
