SummaryAdvanced Persian aims to enable students to have mastery of all aspects of higher Persian and develop further reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
Course description In this course students' command of the Persian Language is developed through a wide range of materials, that is, by study of different Persian texts, both prose and poetry, with use of films and other media as well. This course consists of work in translating English texts into Persian, and vice versa, and practice of oral and aural skills at advanced level.

Feedback Feedback is frequently given to students in different forms for their different tasks such as home works, translations, weekly tests, compositions, oral presentations and aural exercises. Both oral and written, individual and group feedback are given for during the semester. Both summative and formative feedbacks are important.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. On successful completion of this course students will have gained an advanced knowledge of the four language skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening in Persian.
  2. Students will be able to read and understand and analyse written and aural materials of various types. The students will be able to translate and analyse different Persian media literature.
  3. Students will be able to produce written Persian in summary form and to appreciate Modern Persian as a form of communication and a form of literature and Classical Persian literature.
  4. Students will be able to understand standards spoken Persian, live or broadcast, interviews, talk shows and films on a variety of topics.
  5. Students can give well-developed and detailed description and discussion on a wide range of topics. They can form an argument, highlighting significant points and also give a presentation and engage in discussion with audience.
