| Summary | The course will look at the period from 1840 to the present. This course is aimed primarily at providing a general introduction to the major issues in American history during this period with an in-depth coverage of a few specific topics. In addition, the examinations, the tutorial journals and the required course essay will provide opportunities to carry out more detailed study and analysis.

| Pre-requisites | Visiting students should usually have at least 1 introductory level History. course at grade B or above (or be predicted to obtain this) for entry to this course. We will only consider University/College level courses.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
