SummaryThis course critically examines the management of human, physical and financial resources at the strategic level across sport. It assesses governance, organisational development and strategy, quality assurance, and performance management within sport organisations. It also discusses the application of risk management, event organisation, and financial analysis to sport.

Additional Information (Assessment) 15 minute individual case study presentation (30%) ¿ equivalent to 1000 words - and 3,000 word management report critically analysing a sport organisation (70%)

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of management, including the role of leadership and governance in sport organisations
  2. Evaluate the importance of strategic planning, organisational development and the management of change in sport organisations
  3. Critically appreciate the relationship between the key functional areas of human resource management, service and quality management systems in the sport sector
  4. Apply key financial ratios and performance indicators to a range of sport organisations.
  5. Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of risk management and health and safety issues in a range of sport settings
