SummaryMany of the general techniques used in evaluation come from the applied social sciences and can be learnt by students in the normal course of education in those fields. However, there is a logic of evaluation that has been developed for and applies only to evaluation, and there are field specific methodologies that must be mastered in order to deal with evaluation in different fields. This course focuses on the general logic and specific evaluation approaches applicable to specific professional fields.

The course will afford students an opportunity to interrogate evaluation policy and practice within their own professional fields, and to conceptualise, design, plan and, where possible, to implement an evaluation. Located within the MSc Management of Training & Development, it will be available as an option within a number of the School's current and planned Masters Degree programmes and may also be of interest and relevance to students in other Schools.
