Learning Outcomes
Explain and critically compare different theoretical perspectives informing adult literacy and numeracy practice.
Identify and critically assess the strengths and limitations of a social practices view of adult literacy and numeracy which examine its contribution across a range of settings - particularly in relation to its research implications.
Locate current policy developments in terms of a theoretical and detailed analyis of historical developments in adult literacy and numeracy in the UK.
Demonstrate a familiarity with the research literature on participation in adult education and learning and its implications for work with adult literacy and numeracy students.
Evaluate major theoretical perspectives on adult learning and their implications for teaching.
Identify and analyse a range of approaches to assessing and evaluating adult learning.
