Summary | This module requires participants to examine some of the underlying assumptions which help to understand what happens in the classroom. The module aims to raise awareness and develop understanding of key concepts in the area of curriculum development in the area of TESOL, and to foster critical discussion of these concepts in relation to actual teaching contexts with which participants are familiar. It is anticipated that the module will enable participants to relate subsequent TESOL modules to a broad educational framework. |

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this module participants will:
1. Have an understanding of key concepts in the area of educational curriculum development with particular reference to TESOL;
2. Be able to relate these concepts to actual teaching learning contexts in TESOL;
3 Have read and reflected critically on a number of key texts in this area;
4 Be able to relate subsequent TESOL modules to a theoretical educational framework;
5 Be able to follow on-going research dialogue on curriculum development issues for TESOL, and the wider field of education and training, and be able to evaluate critically relevance of this for familiar contexts.
