SummaryIn keeping with other BEd (Physical Education) placement experiences, Year 3 Placement represents a further opportunity for students to further develop and consolidate their practical knowledge and understanding of the professional, curricular and pedagogical demands of teaching physical education in the secondary sector. This placement takes place over 10 weeks during Semester 1( September-December). Students would normally be allocated 75 per cent of a full time teachers timetable and would work closed with teachers/mentors to develop make satisfactory progress in the three key pertaining to the standards for provisional registration (GTCS2013): Professional Values & Personal Commitment, Professional Knowledge & Understanding and Professional Skills & Abilities.
Course description Within Placement 3 the key themes are related to 1) the planning, implementation and evaluation of lessons in Physical Education in S1-S4 2) introduction to the teaching of certificate Physical Education
3) consideration of current curricular development relating to a Curriculum for Excellence, Health & Well-Being and Certificate Physical Education and 4) consideration of whole school policies with regards to special educational need and 5) developing knowledge and understanding of the nature and organisation of the wider school

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate a satisfactory level of competence in planning, delivering and evaluating appropriate physical education lesosns for S1-4 classes
  2. Demonstrate an understadning of teaching physical education within the certificate context (S3-4))
  3. Demonstrate an understadning of current curricular developments in Physical Education (Curriculum for Excellence)
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of whole school policies as they relate to inclusion and pupils with additonal support needs.
  5. Demonstrate an understanding of wider school issues and policies
